- Don't consume 2 servings of pasta before attempting to wrap yourself in plastic
- crimping hair takes forever
- household items such as tinfoil, trash ties, and ziploc bags can make delightful additions to a costume
- when cloaking yourself in saran wrap, its a good idea to gather items you might need ahead of time; as once you are wrapped up, you won't be bending down any time soon
- the shelf life of a costume made entirely of plastic is around 3 hours

MY HALLOWEEN COSTUME IS BETTER THAN YOURS
Last night, while celebrating all hallow's eve dressed as a "leftover" I learned the following things. You might find them useful if ever you feel the need to see what "form fitting" truly is.

Samantha Parkington Vs. Jesus Freaks
Hi Kids, remember me???
Im back, mostly becuase I'm filled with rage.
The most wonderful toy I ever owned is under attack.
If you are a girl, and in your twenties, you probably owned and American Girl Doll. Or you know someone who did.
When I was eight, Samantha Parkington was the coolest doll ever. She was from 1904, taught you about history, came with books and had the mostt extensive/historically accurate wardrobe imaginable. She currently sits in my attic, just incase I have a daughter someday.
Apparently, becuase the company that makes these dolls donates money to an organization that empowers girls through education also happens to be pro-choice, the dolls are now the tool of the devil.
WHERE DOES IT END PEOPLE????????????
I'm so glad I'm bilingual. Im getting out of this country, for serious.
Also, incase you need more evidence:
while i was drivng back from NY last weekend, there was a protest at the convention center.
for what, you might ask. (try to let this absorb slowly....) grown men and women were standing on street corners protesting....
CIRCUMCISION.
people were holding signs of babies saying "love all of me" and "my foreskin was not a mistake"
I rest my case.

"I'm impossible to forget, but hard to remember."
Just a quick note on a Sunday evening (pre-Housewives)... It got scatching reviews, but I willa absolutely fight America on this: ELIZABETHTOWN is one of the best movie of the year. I completely could not stop crying. It's beautiful. It's absolutely gorgeous.
Go see it. And if you don't like it, then we're in a Big Fight.

National Coming Out Day!
HOORAY!! Happy, Happy everyone!
In honor of such a genius holiday (and is it a coincidence that Dolly's new CD comes out today??), here's a little trip down memory lane to when we had a real president:

Ranting Monday
Happy Columbus Day, Readership! I hope you had a lovely weekend. I was out in the Hamptons, where I saw Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin-Paltrow and even little Apple Blyth Allison Martin-Paltrow going into a restaurant in Amangansett! Delightful sighting all around.
I just wanted to take this date, when you either celebrate the contributions of Italian-Americans or bemoan the fate of Native Americans (I'm constantly doing the latter, and I'll consider doing the former if it's ever merited), to go at a few things:
(1) Can the world just fucking crucify Kate Moss and Boy George and get it over with? Like, we get it, you don't like people who do coke (but people who start wars and/or appear on "Trading Spouses," you're fine with), but kicking Boy George when he's down (ie- obese), or kicking Kate Moss when she's down (ie- dating a guys whose band is named Babyshambles), is just too easy. Do you really feel good about yourselves for belittling Boy George? Like, he's not Tom Cruise. He can't defend himself armed with fortunes and lunacy like Tom can. I mean, c'mon. That's all I'm saying.
(2) www.harrietmiers.blogspot.com
Essential.
(3) First, Kenny Chesney commits "fraud" against her, and now Jack White's wife is pregnant. I'm betting on a Renee Zellweger suicide, which, after "Nurse Betty" would be the best thing she's done in a loooooong time.
(4) My iPod is broken. Am I grieving the loss of over 5,000 songs? You fuckin' bet I am. But I suppose I'll just start the process of assembling them all over again. Sigh. Rage.
OK, Back on the clock now. CIAO!
KEVIN :-)
PS- Thanks and love to Kate for the "Trading Spouses" joke. Still Golden, Wilkinson.

something to get angry about on a thursday afternoon
Melina Jarvis is the chair of the social studies department at Currituck County High School in North Carolina, and she is not used to having the Secret Service question her or one of her students.
But that's what happened on September 20. Jarvis had assigned her senior civics and economics class "to take photographs to illustrate their rights in the Bill of Rights," she says. One student "had taken a photo of George Bush out of a magazine and tacked the picture to a wall with a red thumb tack through his head. Then he made a thumb's down sign with his own hand next to the President's picture, and he had a photo taken of that, and he pasted it on a poster."
According to Jarvis, the student, who remains anonymous, was just doing his assignment, illustrating the right to dissent. But over at the Kitty Hawk Wal-Mart, where the student took his film to be developed, this right is evidently suspect. An employee in that Wal-Mart photo department called the Kitty Hawk police on the student. And the Kitty Hawk police turned the matter over to the Secret Service. On Tuesday, September 20, the Secret Service came to Currituck High.
"At 1:35, the student came to me and told me that the Secret Service had taken his poster," Jarvis says. "I didn't believe him at first. But they had come into my room when I wasn't there and had taken his poster, which was in a stack with all the others." She says the student was upset
"He was nervous, he was scared, and his parents were out of town on business," says Jarvis. She, too, had to talk to the Secret Service."Halfway through my afternoon class, the assistant principal got me out of class and took me to the office conference room," she says.
"Two men from the Secret Service were there. They asked me what I knew about the student. I told them he was a great kid, that he was in the homecoming court, and that he'd never been in any trouble."
Then they got down to his poster."They asked me, didn't I think that it was suspicious," she recalls. "I said no, it was a Bill of Rights project!"At the end of the meeting, they told her the incident "would be interpreted by the U.S. attorney, who would decide whether the student could be indicted," she says.
The student was not indicted, and the Secret Service did not pursue the case further."I blame Wal-Mart more than anybody," she says. "I was really disgusted with them. But everyone was using poor judgment, from Wal-Mart up to the Secret Service."
A person in the photo department at the Wal-Mart in Kitty Hawk said, "You have to call either the home office or the authorities to get any information about that."Jacquie Young, a spokesperson for Wal-Mart at company headquarters, did not provide comment within a 24-hour period. Sharon Davenport of the Kitty Hawk Police Department said, "We just handed it over" to the Secret Service. "
No investigative report was filed."Jonathan Scherry, spokesman for the Secret Service in Washington, D.C., said, "We ertainly respect artistic freedom, but we also have the responsibility to look into incidents when necessary. In this case, it was brought to our attention from a private citizen, a photo lab employee."
